Global Wind Day 2016 in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Global Wind Day 2016 is being celebrated here in Ireland with events throughout the month of June. Ireland joins the celebration of our wind energy in partnership with events taking place across Europe and around the globe. Global Wind Day is coordinated by Wind Europe and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) to raise awareness of the positive benefits of wind energy as a clean, safe and renewable energy source. Last year was a great success with over 2,000 people, young and old visiting Irish wind farms, and seeing for themselves wind energy in action. This year again will see wind farms across Ireland, North and South hosting an array of events to celebrate renewable wind energy. The activities and dates vary. Some wind farms are hosting public open-days and talks so that families can learn about wind energy, and see turbines in operation, while others are holding special events including public walks, and some more still are inviting schools for educational fun, games and facts on wind energy.
