All walkers will meet at the Lyrath hotel and then be transferred to Bennettsbridge a village on the River Nore, 8km from the Lyrath.  From there you will walk back to Kilkenny along the river, accompanied by Cóilín Ó Drisceoil from Kilkenny Archaeology who will talk about the many derelict water mills and the abandoned canal along the route.  You will walk on a way marked way along the riverside (completely flat and easy walking) and Cóilín will discuss the mills and canal as we come upon them.   After 5.5km (about 80mins at a leisurely pace) there will be a pit stop in Lavistown House Study Centre where refreshments will be provided. You will then continue the walk, by road and fields, to Lyrath (on a way marked trail again, for 2km - about 15mins).  The entire walk is about 8km, on a way marked way, completely flat and really lovely with the river and woods and old mills
