IWEA GLOBAL WIND DAY PHOTO COMPETITION WINNNER!

One of the first Global Wind Day activities drew to a close this morning with the announcement of the winner of the Wind Energy Photo Competition sponsored by the Irish Wind Energy Association. (For more information on Global Wind Day and an opening wind Farm near you click here )

The winning photograph was taken by Conor Calnan, who impressed the panel of judges with his image taken of Kilronan Wind Farm in County Roscommon.

Kilronan Wind Farm is situated in the Kilronan Mountains close to Derrinavoggy on a plateau 320 metres above sea level, exposed to Ireland's prevailing south westerly winds. Conor will be awarded a prize of 3 night break in the Clarion Hotel, Cork for two people.

Commenting on the winning photograph, Michael Walsh CEO of the Irish Wind Energy Association said:

“Conor's entry truly reflects the award theme of “Wind Energy in Action”, set against the backdrop of a beautiful Roscommon landscape” .
