84% of people surveyed in favour of Wind Energy use in Ireland

84% of adults in Ireland are in favour of wind power in Ireland according to a survey published today by the Irish Wind Energy Association (IWEA). The results of the survey, which was carried out by Interactions in October 2017, show 47% of Irish adults polled said they were are strongly in favour of wind power in Ireland while a further 38% favour it.

Consultation on new Renewable Electricity Support Scheme welcome

IWEA has welcomed the publication of the consultation on the new Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS) by the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment Denis Naughten. In an initial response to the Draft Design of the Scheme IWEA Head of Policy Dr. David Connolly commented: “The new support scheme which will be hugely important as it will shape the next phase of investment in renewable energy projects as we further decarbonise our electricity network over the next decade."
